Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my surgery cost?
Mr.Vellore’s fees for most surgical procedures are in line with those recommended by the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Certain more complex procedures may incur additional fees. If there is a Vascular exposure surgeon involved in your care ( ALIF, Lumbar ADR), this will incur a separate fee, billed directly by the Vascular surgeon.
Are there any additional costs?
You will also receive a bill from the anaesthetist and the assistant surgeon involved in your surgery. You should check with your health fund if they will cover the cost of your hospital stay and prostheses utilized in the surgery.
Will I be in pain after surgery?
Mr Vellore’s expert team of anaesthetists and physicians will ensure optimal post-operative analgesia during your recovery from surgery. Most neurosurgical procedures are well tolerated with minimal discomfort.
Will I need rehabilitation after surgery?
Most patients do not require inpatient rehabilitation. However after certain complex procedures, a small period of inpatient rehabilitation may be required. Patients find this is often beneficial for themselves as well as for family members. This will be arranged for you and is usually covered by your health fund.
What if there is a medical emergency?
For urgent medical problems we ask that you report to the nearest Emergency Department.
